Southwest Champs 2025

Full details to follow but for now read on....

The Southwest Champs will hopefully return for 2025 after several years off the racing calendar.

The race will be open to anyone who wishes to enter from any area of the UK!

We will have two separate podiums, One for all racers and one for the Southwest racers. Hopefully the podiums will be well sponsored so everyone gets a prize too.

This race will be used to prove that the crew from Gawton Gravity hub and Woodlandriders-racing are more than capable of running a National DH Race in 2026. It is a BC prerequisite to be able to apply for a national round in 2026. So thats more big news for another time.

We will be using a tougher track than any of our winter series races. It will be a mashup of Supertavi-Megatavi-Supertavi with a complete new loam center section and a new finish section and an arena if all goes to plan. The track should be well over 2:30 mins. If we get it right so should be an awesome challenge for everyone including the locals as all new addtional sections will not open until the Friday of the race weekend as to not give anyone the unfair advantage.

There will be camping for all which will open for early arrivals on Friday afternoon at 14:00.

The camping field will have our 12m x 6m marquee setup in it with several catering comanies based around the sides. The marquee will become a covered food hall for everyone.

There will be fun n games in the camping field every night including MTB jousting, yes jousting, where you can batter your friends and never feel guilty.

The most important bit for you all is it will be a FULLY uplifted event. This will unfortunately have a direct impact on the entry fee but it will hopefully be no more than £75 so not as expensive as a true National. But it will have the same ethos and atmosphere as a National with more thrown in here n there. Final entry fee to be confirmed.

All vehicles except for officials, medics, marshalls, media and track crew will park in the provided field adjacent to the main entrance. No other vehicles will be allowed to park anywhere on site for the weekend.

We will require 15-16 marshals for this race and if your interested please direct message us on the racing facebook page or use the contact page on this website.

GUIDE TO CATEGORIES

Please use your age on your next birthday in the year of racing, so if it's February and you turn 19 in December, 19 is the age you use to decide your category for the year.

If you move up a category after Xmas you may choose to enter this category before Xmas to be in the overall series rankings. This is however your choice to make.

U12 DOWNHILL (RIPPER)

Due to the nature of the track there might not be a RIPPERS category as they track will be a step up in severity and length from all of the Winter races. If you can prove your little tacker is capable of riding / racing the track we may be alowed to add the RIPPERS category but it will be entirely down to BC.

Riders taking part in short course or mini downhill events can compete in their 12th year and below.

JUVENILE

To qualify for the juvenile category, a rider must be in the year of their 13th or 14th birthday.

YOUTH

Riders in the year of their 15th or 16th birthdays.

JUNIOR

Riders in the year of their 17th and 18th birthdays.

SENIOR (Sport / Expert / Elite)

When a rider reaches the year of their 19th birthday then they will race in an ability based category See below for how riders can attain expert or elite status.

MASTER

For riders aged 30 to 39. In downhill, senior riders will default to master on reaching the year of their 30th birthday.  There is no masters licence category in cross country, however riders of masters age with sport or expert licences may ride in masters races where they are held.

VETERAN

For riders aged 40 to 49.

GRAND VETS

How do I qualify to a higher ability category?
